What happens in a LABAN Lead coaching session?
For coaching sessions, we will analyze your preferred styles in a number of different contexts and develop a sense of your
baseline. Then we will set a short or long term working plan, devising some exercises and activities for you to work on that
will enhance and increase your performance and interactive choices. We might videotape your presentations or try some new
approaches in everyday activities. And we will practice observing patterns in others, in order to increase your "reading
the room" abilities. What do I wear for a coaching session?
You can come with the clothes you will need to wear for any special occasion, or you can come with clothes that you
will feel comfortable to move. This is your own choosing. As we practice more, you will wear clothing you will be wearing
for your pleasure times, and for your meetings, speeches, or interviews
Who have you coached?
We have coached politicians, business man and women, communicators,
dancers and ators, but my coaching work is completely private and I never reveal the names of those I have coached. If we
do our work well enough, no one will even be able to tell you have been coached. People are not significantly different as
a result of this work, they are just much more confident and comfortable in a variety of situations and in their own skin. What is the difference between what you do and what a speech
or body language coach does?
Speech and body language coaches tend to focus on these specific aspects
of communication. While we address these aspects as movement (the rhythm of your language and of your gestures and body
postures) we go beyond that, addressing all aspects of human communication, including how you organize your body movement
for vocal support and clarity, facial expressions and gestures vocabulary, how you use the space around you and the space
of the room, and how to relate to others within those spaces. We also look at cultural patterns and build up your ability
to adapt and attune. How long have you been doing this work?
R. Miranda has been coaching actors, media people, polititians, business executives, and dancers for
over thirty years, and has been applying the Laban System in corporate and political settings since 1992 . In 2002 she
started developing her specific approach to leadership development, which is now called LABAN
Lead. The other consultants at Centro LABAN-Rio have been working with Miranda for over 20 years, forming an excellent
and very experience team.
